Black Snowshoe Trail...in the daylight!

I had one of the most wonderful lunch breaks today.

Vespi and I got to do Black SnowShoe Trail in the Daylight.

It was beautiful!!
We meandered around through the woods for about twenty minutes before finding our way down to the lake.
and then it was switchbacks, up and around to the back of the hill (I think) where we ended up crossing the Green XC Trail about 40 minutes later.
We crawled under a fallen tree and then...
It was like entering a whole nother world.

The snow was so deliciously soft and our shoes sunk in just the right amount.
But the trail, wow, it wound around narrow tree paths that would have been deadly to ski but super fun to snowshoe. And then we opened up onto a great wide open, for which my brain could find only one purpose ;) There was something larger than life about this section of the trail, this final piece before we somehow managed to find ourselves back at the lake. Maybe it was because most people had surrendered themseslves onto the groomed ski trails and we were breaking trail. Maybe it was the grandeur of the whole thing, or the sun peeking over the ridgeline.

Or maybe it was just having the opportunity to just get lost in the woods with my best friend on a beautiful spring day in March - and get paid for it!
